What Is My Purpose?
What is my purpose? This is a question I remember asking myself and asking God so many times, sometimes on and off, as I tried to figure out my path and know what I was supposed to do with my life. I knew that working in the marketplace was part of my purpose, but what else?
As I speak and meet new people, I so often hear many of them asking that same question about their purpose in life.
The verse that gave me a strategy
I had a revelation about this! If we go to Matthew 6:33 in the Bible, it talks about seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you. I think that if we stop and simply meditate on that scripture, it really gives us the strategy for discovering our purpose in life.
As I began to reflect on it, I realized that my purpose was to go deeper with God than ever before. And as I did that, my purpose would be revealed. Seeking God has been a lifelong journey, but until I truly realized that it is all about knowing God daily, I had not dived in with my whole heart.
What is my purpose, and how do I find it daily?
I discovered that the closer I got to God by setting aside daily time for that private moment with Him, the more my purpose began to make sense. I made sure I did not miss my time with God each day. I would get up very early, before anyone else, and spend time reading the Bible, confessing my scriptures, and finally praying for a while and simply listening for God’s voice. My day started off so much better, and I began to smile again, knowing I was going deeper with God.
The more consistent I became, the more my heart began to feel satisfied that I was going somewhere. You see, God is the key to everything. He knows your coming in and your going out. He knows what lies ahead and how we should be prepared for all the other things He has for us.
My walk with God has been so uplifting and so fulfilling that every day I want more of Him. My life is so blessed, and favor falls on me because I dedicate time to reading the Word and praying daily.
Give it one week
I encourage you to seek God more deeply than ever before, setting aside time for Him and starting your daily walk. Just give it one week. I know you will begin to see changes in yourself first, and then in your life.
